Been off the trail for a few days. I caught a viral infection (according to the Dr) and spent the past few days getting well again. I had a real hard time keeping fluids and food in me, and that doesn’t fare well in the desert, so I got a ride into Redlands, and stayed with my friend Carey. Thanks to trail angel Section B for the ride into civilization and to my bud Carey for the hospitality.
His place was a comfy spot not too far from an urgent care center where I could go get checked out. I spent those days mainly resting and getting my gut back in order.
Got a ride to Cabazon, and started back on the trail a little before noon. I was feeling quite good and did 22 miles before catching up to my friends and calling it a day, just before dark set in.
The day was spent in the desert mountains which were very hot. Lots of folks resting under shade for the hottest part of the afternoon. I was so thrilled and energized to be back out walking that it was hard for me to relax in the shade for very long.
Had some great views during the day of the surrounding mountains. Also went by a large wind farm.
Cowboy camped and the stars were nice and bright….it was a beautiful evening.
