Had a nice breakfast in town at a place that was a little too busy. Had over a 40 minute wait, but the food was quite good. It was our friend Phyllis’ birthday today.
After breakfast, Matt and Phyllis drove us back up to the Shenandoah National Park and we hopped back on the trail.
Sweet Pea got a pair of old shoes that she was saving for the post rocky action of the trail (after PA). These ones are more comfy. She has had some sore spots on the balls of her feet for awhile.
We were pretty lethargic but still managed to do 10 miles in 4 hours this afternoon. The terrain was pretty nice. Even more leaves are changing at this point.
Received 2 different trail magic today. A guy in a parking lot offered some tasty bread to us that he had left over from his backpacking trip….very good. Then a section hiker passed us and gave Sweet Pea a Snickers bar as well.
Clear tonight so we are hammocking without our tarps. Lots of folks at the shelter area. Probably pushing 15 or so…many guys out for the weekend, a couple sectioners, and 5 of us thru-hikers. Good to see some southbounders that we had not seen for a couple weeks.
