The Arizona Trail is 800 miles long. It runs from the Mexico border to the Utah border through Arizona.

The trail passes through multiple national parks (including the Grand Canyon NP), wilderness areas and national forests.
The AZT is a fairly new trail. Work and planning began in 1985 and National Scenic Trail recognition was given in 2009.
Our Favorite Arizona Trail Photos
The AZT was our first hiking experience in Arizona, and SweetPea’s first time in extended desert hiking. The variety of terrain and flora really surprised us on this trail. Great mountains and beautiful solitude exist on the trail.
